If you arrive by car

Veszprém can be reached from the capital city and the bigger Pannon cities (Győr, Székesfehérvár, Szombathely, Siófok) in one or two hour. Veszprém connects with Budapest by the M7 highway and N.8 main road.

In the inner city of Veszprém the parking is payable between 7 and 17 hour with 3 zone rate. People can park for free in the surrounding surface parking from 17 in the afternoon to 7 hour morning after. More information from the parking zones and its fees here. Our recommend if you come to Veszprém from the direction of Budapest

From M7 highway we recommend the Székesfehérvár-South highway exit (km 64) then the N.8 main road to Veszprém. For those who arrive from East they must go along the Budapest út to the big car park by the Budapest út-Jutasi út roundabout (roundabout 3. exit) – (Google Maps: Hotel Parkoló, Veszprém, Bezerédi utca). The car park is on the street, paying (on weekdays between 7 and 17 hours, red zone), and allows an open air parking opportunity.

From here the Old town can be reach afoot in this route:

Go to South-West direction until the end of the car park, there cross over the two pedestrian crossings in Mindszenty Jószef út. Continue straight to North direction on the Hoffer Ármin sétány, until you reach the Tourist Information Pavilion on the Kossuth Lajos utca (sétálóutca). From the Pavilion go to West direction down the street, in the end of the street go right to the Szabadság tér. Going through the Tér go straight to the Rákóczi Ferenc utca in the direction of Óváros tér, from where there is a straight way to the Castle in the direction of the Fire lookout tower.

Our recommend if you come to Veszprém from the direction of Győr, Zirc

On the N.82 main road passing by the Veszprém Aréna from the two roundabouts take the 2. exit, then go right and drive into the city on the first exit in the direction of Centrum. Our recommend if you come to Veszprém from the direction of Lake Balaton

If you arrive from South (Balatonalmádi, Balatonfüred) to Veszprém, go straight on the course of Almádi út-Bajcsi-Zsilinszky Endre utca-Mártírok út, or Füredi út – Mártírok út to the crossing of Brusznyai Árpád-Mindszenty Jószef utca.

Our recommend if you come to Veszprém from the direction of West

Those who come to the direction of West (Tapolca, Sümeg, Ajka) go on the N.8 main road, go through the West ring-road until the lantern crossing of József Attila utca-Tapolca út. In the crossing go left in the direction of Centrum and go straight on the József Attila utca until the crossing of the Egyetem utca, then go left. Go right and follow the street until the Megyeház tér, then by the first opportunity turn right to the Erzsébet liget car park. (Google Maps: Veszprém, Erzsébet sétány 1.) If you arrive by train

Veszprém has got well developed rail network.

From the rail station the N. 1, N. 2 and N. 4 local buses go to the inner city. People can buy (with cash) the bus ticket by the bus driver when they go up the bus.

With the N. 1 local bus you can go to the Autóbusz-állomás bus stop. From here you can reach the Óváros tér with a 5 minutes light walk. Getting off the bus go to direction North and come across the pedestrian crossing. Go left and go straight until the end of the Bagolyvári út (in front of the Lovassy László Gimnázium) then in the end of the street in the Szabadság tér roundabout choose the second opportunity and go straight to the Rákóczi utca in the direction of Óváros tér, from where there is a straight way to the Castle in the direction of the Fire lookout tower.

If you arrive by scheduled, intercity bus:

Approach on foot from the bus station: Across Vásárcsarnok on the underpass under the Jutasi út, go straight the Kossuth Lajos utca, then after the Szabadság tér and Rákóczi Ferenc utca comes the Óváros tér and the Castle.

If you arrive by special service bus (for groups):

For those who arrive with coach we recommend the bus park in Köd utca. From the Köd utca bus park people can reach the historical quarter with a 10 minutes’ walk. Up on the Cserhát utca, then go right on the Bagolyvári út, go straight (in front of the Lovassy László Gimnázium) then in the end of the street in the Szabadság tér roundabout choose the second opportunity and go straight to the Rákóczi utca in the direction of the Óváros tér, from where there is a straight way to the Castle in the direction of the Fire lookout tower.
