They presented a fairytale opera specifically designed for this event, and the artists of the Budapest Operetta Theater also performed and brought back to the city again “A régi nyár” (The Old Summer), which was originally one of the direction of Rátonyi in Veszprém. Several children's programs were connected to the operetta festival, the theater garden was waiting for the visitors, and in the lobby, there was still a chamber exhibition about Rátonyi’s life – reported the TV of Veszprém on the first operetta festival.

In June 2019, the operetta will once again be the main star in the Petőfi Theater of Veszprém, as the I. Róbert Rátonyi Operetta Festival showed a huge demand for the operetta genre that has become hungaricum

János Kerekes - Tibor Barabás - Szilárd Darvas - Béla Gádor: The State Department Store (Hungarian: Állami Áruház)

Description:

"Hearing, hearing, attention! Our store opens in ten minutes. Get ready for the flag of the ministry!"

The Diadal Department Store's busy sellers are preparing to open. They have not stopped for a minute, because the stake is very high: which department will win the flag of the Ministry this year? To win, they will have to come to a common agreement on the big question, how to sell the products. Feri Kocsis, a salesman returning from his study visit from Moscow, returns with the new songs of modern times to his beloved store. He claims for the customer only has to sell what he or she really needs. On the other hand, Daniel colleague, who is the leader of the ready-made garments of woman, says that the seller has to pounce on customers as the tiger and sell them the most expensive goods. So the wild survivor of capitalism fights against the reasonable consistency of socialist production ...

Nevertheless, Feri also has to face with the store's internal and external enemies. Sometimes is the imperialist agitator of American Voice Radio or other times the secret reactionary chief is serial.

And how did they even have time for love beside so much work?

The propaganda-operetta became legendary in the 1950’s, The State Department Store describe cheerful period, from which narrating without cheer is a mortal sin. It’s time for it.

Béla Zerkovitz - László Szilágyi: “Csókos asszony” operetta

Description:

All inhabitants of the rental house in the Józsefváros, in Budapest, are in full spirit because they are preparing for the engagement of Kató Pünkösdi, the young drama student and Pista Dorozsmay. Baron Tarpataky unexpectedly comes up in the middle of the bustle. The Baron was completely fascinated by Kató's talent in the performance, so he invites her to his villa which is located at Bajza Street. She politely refuses the Baron's offer, but the engagement ceremony fails, therefore Kató sorrowfully goes to Bajza Street… This is an operetta about love, theater and peacetime in Pest.

The performance was created with the permission of Pentaton Művész és Koncertügynökség és a Proscenium Szerzői Ügynökség Kft.  (Pentaton Artist and Concert Agency and Proscenium Author Agency Ltd.)

The performance of the József Attila Theater of Budapest.

Albert Szirmai - Károly Bakonyi – Gábor Andor: Mágnás Miska (Mickey Magnate)

Description:

Besides the well-known operetta songs, the power of the top of the social hierarchy, which is inconsistent with the laws of everyday co-habitation, is also a real phenomenon. István Baracs railway engineer is in conflict with Earl Korláthy, who lives in the nearby demesne, who contradicts his common sense, but because of his rank, he claims lordship over the railway which is built for the village. Baracs and the Little Countess Korláthy love each other unknown, but in the castle, the intention seems irreconcilable because of the social differences, which is aggravated by the conflict with the Earl.

The story of Miska Mágnás make the social differences of the absurdity of the bygone age, in which a simple groom without difficulty genuinely pretend to be a tiger hunter earl. The role play is easier than we think. The appearance wins until the arrival of the real tiger hunter. Detection and scandal, as well as the lucky end, are unavoidable.

The performance was made with the contribution of the Hartai Music Agency in Budapest.

The performance was supported by the Hungarian Government, the State Secretary for National Policy and the Bethlen Gábor Foundation. The production was supported by the National Cultural Fund.

The performance of Csíki Játékszín (Theater of Csíkszereda).
