Fire Lookout Tower

Walking on from here we catch sight of the Fire Tower, one of the symbols of the town. More Shorter

One of the symbols of Veszprém, firstly built as a watchtower but later on it was rebuilt to alarm in case of fire. Climbing up to the top of its spiral staircase we are going to have an unforgettable view on the city. Every hour the clock of the tower plays 'conscription music' composed by the Veszprém composer Antal Csermák.

A new exhibition was opened on 20th August 2015 on the 1st floor of the Várkapu (Castle Gate) Souvenir Shop (4. Vár Str.). The new permanent exhibition introduces the history of the Fire Lookout Tower. Visitors can see the copies of the documents found after the renovations in 1814 and 1891. The original metal document storage cylinders and the coins found in them, as well as other interesting photos and descriptions about the history of the monument can also be seen in the exhibition.
The entrance tickets of the Fire lookout Tower are valid for this exhibition, too.
