In 2001 the Óváros Square was renovated and the Millennium Memorial made by Mária Lugossy was placed here. These stalactite and stalagmite (dripstone) motifs with the crystal endings represent the passing of time. Mária Lugossy, the sculptor says about the memorial: ‘The memorial has been made of limestone which is the most characteristic material of Bakony and its surrounding. The upper block ends with a solid glass prism similarly to the lower block which also ends with a prism and the tension between the two provides the essence of the statue.
