Györgydeák György was born in 1958 in Székesfehérvár. He completed his high school studies in Veszprém, and lived in Balatonkenese. He worked as a graphic artist in the Bakony Museum Veszprém for 10 years, was the editor of the Cigányfúró newspaper for 9 years, and the co-worker of the House of Arts, as well. He studied arts in an autodidact way. He was never obligated. Many people could get to know his works of art throughout the county and the country, furthermore, he had many exhibitions, too. His works – just like his whole life – represents humour and adventure. His works are primarily connected to Lake Balaton and to the nature.
Györgydeák made up of his tableau with wood, string, nail, sand, gyps, clay, textile, pieces of furniture, broken games of children, and many other things, so he reused the things we would have thrown away. The artist founded a new genre to explain his private mythology: Bübü.
Bübü refers to the strange and unrealistic puppets and statues of the artist. Most of them are similar to animals and fish – some of them to humans. But they are rather mythological creatures, just like the character of artist Lauz or Eototo and Aholi, the ghosts of Indians, or any other idols or gods of the people of nature.
The exhibition can be visited until 13.05.2018.
