THE VESZPRÉM ZOO

Veszprém Zoo is not only open every day of the year but it shows you something new in each season. Outstanding attractions are the African Savannah run with a lookout on the Gulya Hill, Chimpanzee World and the Africa-house where we can visit giraffes, like Zuri born on the first of March 2014. Since the Autumn of 2014 you can see Indian elephants, a rhino-house with 4 rhinos, and since 2015 seals, penguins, too.

FIRE-WATCH TOWER

The only remaining tower of the Castle from the Middle Ages stands on the highest point of the city Veszprém. This was called Barbacan, today Fire-Watch Tower. It is worth climbing the 48 Meter high tower even if it is hot. Everyone needs a little exercise, not speaking about the beautiful view of the City.

THE HEROES' GATE

Locals and tourist can get local historical information from the exhibition called ‘The heroes’ gate’ which was inaugurated in 1939 and renovated in 2013. Beautiful stained glass windows, interactive maps and spectator terraces make you get unforgettable experience.

CASTLE OF VESZPRÉM – ECCLESIASTIC VALUES AND MODERN GALLERIES

The baroque historic buildings in the Castle can be visited during the whole year. It is a meaningful diversion to discover the precious exhibitions of the Castle Street (Vár utca) and to visit the ecclesiastic treasures and the modern art galleries.

THEATERS OF VESZPRÉM

Veszprém has three theatres which enrich the cultural life. The Veszprémi Petőfi Színház (Petőfi Theatre of Veszprém) is the outstanding nationally known cultural centre of the county and the Balaton region. In 2013 the Pannon Várszínház moved into another building called Hangvilla and it expects his audience in an amazing modern milieu. For more than 10 years the Kabóca Bábszínház (Kabóca Puppet Theatre) has functioned for toddlers, preschoolers. It offers a complex theatrical experience.

MONASTERIES AND GARDENS AT THE FOOT OF THE CASTLE OF VESZPRÉM

The Veszprém Valley offers numerous outdoor activities. It is a real pearl of the city. Walking hand in hand, relaxing on a bench, or chatting over a coffee…these are just some of the opportunities. Árpád-era monuments, for example the Margaret ruins, the Greek Nunnery ruins of Veszprém Valley and the Jesuit Church are surrounded by deciduous trees and walkways

RENEWED DOWNTOWN, HANGVILLA

The downtown rehabilitation is over. Inter alia the pedestrian and the Kossuth Street (Kossuth utca) are renewed. A new information center was opened in the Kossuth utca. The Hangvilla event and conference center is ready. It has become one of the most favorite places of the local people since its opening in November 2013.
